Have you ever been stressed about a situation in your life? Whether it’s beginning a new task, seeking new employment opportunities or handling a situation that will alter your life. I have, I believe that we all have experienced at least 1 of the above within our lifetime.
Being proactive allows individuals to tackle situations head on and also allows for us to control the situation and most importantly how our bodies react. When we are proactive, we can plan ahead by taking small steps towards a greater purpose. For example, if we believe that we are unfulfilled within our current job or living situation, we have 2 choices. One to be proactive and in charge, and two be reactive and not prepared.
If someone is proactive about creating new opportunities for themself they will gain confidence by seeking out new opportunities through search engines including but not limited to indeed and Instagram. They can update their resume and cover letters within a timely manner, begin to apply for new positions and seek out events to connect them with people whom can open doors for their creativity. Let’s just be clear, any career that one seeks has a special level of creativity. Whether it’s building rapport with clients, educating clients or selling packages that will ultimately increase residual income for individuals as well as companies incorporated.
When we are proactive, we are able to feel the pleasures of dopamine which is the pleasure seeking hormone within our bodies. We are creating new memories within our brain that are empowering to ourselves. We are creating new opportunities for ourselves that may increase the probability of success and ultimate happiness. We are choosing our own destiny in a proactive, mindful and strategic manner.
On the flip side, if we are reactive, we are never fully and truly in control of our destines. In the example in which we are unhappy with our job or living situation, if we don’t move quickly and proactively, we may be forced to do so at a time which isn’t best for us. We would be out of control during this situation which may increase stress and levels of Cortizone within our bodies. Stress can be very detrimental to our way of life and crucial to our decision making processes. Being reactive forces one to only react to the negative or positive situation that they are in which if you don’t do well under pressure, this could be very challenging. When we are stressed, we may not be able to deliver as precisely as we would be if we are in a happier mood or affect. Imagine being frustrated that you‘re terminated, laid off or in the process of being evicted. What would you rather be proactive or reactive? What would work best for staying stress free?
